In Ayurvedic medicine, Bergamot Oil has been used to soothe acne, skin rashes, sores and sore throats, and bladder infections. It is also used to reduce fever, obesity, depression, eczema, gingivitis, flatulence, loss of appetite, and compulsive behaviors.

It tends to be the most expensive of the expressed citrus probably because of high demand and limited production. The chemistry of Bergamot increases its usefulness in blends. It is used in aromatherapy for acne, digestion, balancing the nervous system. It is sedative and antifungal.

How It Promotes Sleep: Bergamot can be useful in preparing your body for sleep, as it slows the heart rate and lowers blood pressure. Unlike many other citrus oils that are said to be energizing, bergamot is calming, can reduce stress and anxiety, and possesses sedative qualities.
